Aiguille Verte
Panorama du Géant
About the work
Hypnotic panorama of the famous Aiguille Verte (4122 m), the emblematic summit of the Mont Blanc massif. Opposite us, the Grands Montets ridge soars skyward. It glows and sets the whole mountain ablaze. This photograph, taken after the storm, reveals the finest rock peaks on this giant of stone and ice. TheAiguille Verte , surrounded on the left by the Aiguille du Jardin and on the right by the Aiguille des Drus. In the distance, on the far left, Mont Dolent rips through the sky, marking the border with Val Ferret.
This photograph shows theAiguille Verte like a queen of the skies. Its other faces, which for the moment receive no light, shine thanks to the reflections of its ridge. A famous steep slope that can only be skied in excellent snow conditions.
I like to call this Aiguille Verte the "Matterhorn of Chamonix"; a difficult mountain, not easily approached. Inspiring, it has fascinated me for over 15 years. I dream of climbing this summit, but I'm also aware of the risks involved and the physical preparation required. What I want to convey here is a message of hope. With a lot of discipline and willpower, the most inaccessible summits may one day be within our reach. If we give ourselves the means and if, every day, a quest for truth and beautiful things guides our small steps as clumsy and fragile human beings.
