Aletschhorn
bernese alps Giant
About the work
It evokes so many memories for me! Climbing the Aletschhorn remains a memorable expedition for me. From the Hollandia hut, I reached the Sattelhorn before following the ridge that crosses the Kleines Aletschhorn. By the time I reached the summit the Aletschhorn, I was exhausted. The weight of the skis on my back had drained my strength. But I felt so much joy! Here I was, on this inaccessible summit in the heart of the Alps. Before skiing back down to the Mittelaletschgletscher, I took one last look at this magnificent landscape and thanked the heavens for giving me the chance to experience such an adventure.
I seized the moment when the mountains prepare to face the fury of summer. I've waited many years for this day to arrive. For the clouds to embrace the mountain, for light and shadow to play with the face. Between darkness and light, the Aletschhorn reveals its beauty and grandeur. This photograph brings together the elements I love to work on: my artistic search contrasts and the play of light, and my aesthetic quest for the graphic power of mountains. The balance in this work is perfect. When we contemplate this photograph, we are transported to another universe. A universe that only nature knows the secrets of.
