Bietschhorn
The King of the Valais
About the work
That day, the storm had just broken. The sky was still heavy, but the mountain, plastered with fresh snow, pierced the veil of clouds. Its face lit up in fragments, revealing in turn the roughness of the rocks and the gentleness of the slopes. In that moment, the Bietschhorn revealed itself as it is: fierce, mysterious, yet irresistibly beautiful.
I chose the vertical format to accentuate this impression of elevation. The mountain rises out of the misty depths and into the light. To photograph the Bietschhorn after the storm is to immortalize a rebirth. The mountain, washed by the winds, offers itself in a new radiance. Every detail exudes strength, every shadow adds intensity to the work. In this majestic photograph, I wanted to capture the fleeting moment when "the King of Valais" regains his throne, emerging from the chaos to recall his timeless grandeur.
