White of Moming

About the work
I love the way this mountain photograph captures the very essence of this link between the Besso and the majestic Zinalrothorn. The clouds tenderly envelop its base while allowing its face to unfold in all its verticality. This misty veil lends the Valais summit an almost supernatural dimension, as if it were floating between heaven and earth, free from the laws of gravity. I love the vertical lines of force that characterize Blanc de Moming. The ridge, finely chiselled by erosion and freeze-thaw cycles, stands out clearly against the veiled sky.
In this almost ghostly vision of Blanc de Moming, I perceive all the poetry and mystery of the high summits the Valais. This discreet mountain, less well known than its illustrious neighbors, nonetheless possesses a magnetic presence, a personality all its own, which I sought to capture in this silvery work. Between appearance and disappearance, between materiality and evanescence, it reminds us of the ephemeral nature of our contemplation of the immensity of geological time.
This portrait of the Blanc de Moming also bears witness to the fragility of natural equilibria at high altitude. The persistent névés that still adorn its flanks tell the story of a climate in the throes of change. Each passing year inexorably changes the face of our Alps, making these photographic moments even more precious, preserving their memory for future generations.
