Matterhorn East Face
after the storm
About the work
This face fascinates me with its perfect geometry. Summer snow accentuates these reliefs, transforming the face into an open book of millions of years.
I present this portrait of the Matterhorn as a fairytale. In the symphony of nuances, a deeply moving story unfolds. The story of a roaring creature on the edge of the stars, of the celestial origins of an ice colossus. Through your eyes, photography takes on its full meaning: it becomes unique and marvellous.
Our gaze soars along this natural architecture. The storm has just passed, leaving behind this purified vision where the mountain rediscovers its original essence. This east face, less well known than its iconic north face, reveals a personality just as captivating. The post-dawn light sculpts every asperity of the rock. The contrast between dark stone and immaculate snow creates a fascinating interplay of textures.
I captured that fleeting moment when the mountain agreed to reveal itself after the storm. I had only one objective: to capture this ephemeral beauty. I grabbed my camera to immortalize the moment. And so this remarkable work was born, before the Matterhorn returned to the storm, before this marvel became no more than a memory. This vision of the King of the Alps captures the very essence of Alpine beauty: that natural perfection which transcends mere photography to become pure art.
