This beautiful black-and-white panoramic photograph celebrates the Matterhorn, an iconic mountain in the Swiss Alps. Rising above Zermatt, in the canton of Valais, it is without doubt one of the world's most famous summits . At the foot of its dark north face, one of the most impressive in the Alps, lies the Matterhorn gletscher, its superb glacier. On the right of the picture, the Zmutt ridge unfurls, outlining the back legs of the Matterhorn, a sphinx of rock dominating the valley. To the left of the picture, the Hörnli ridge winds up to summit. At its foot, the refuge of the same name is the starting point for the normal route up the mountain.

I took this magnificent photograph in winter, when the furious winds were tormenting the Matterhorn. Embodying their vigor, the clouds fulminate along the mountain. I was very lucky to be able to admire this fabulous and ephemeral spectacle. By veiling the eastern side of the Matterhorn, the clouds reveal another facet of its personality. They highlight the Matterhorn's imposing ridges, which give summit its legendary shape. They bring back many memories for the mountaineers who have trodden them, and inevitably inspire the dreams of high-mountain enthusiasts. Between light and shadow, the Hörnli ridge guides us towards the heavens. The Matterhorn's stunning north face stands out. Thus photographed, the mountain, wild and untamed, captivates us. I wanted to highlight the perfect balance of its forms and its incredible charisma. The intoxicating Matterhorn inspires my art as it amazes you.
