Facing the Titans

This magnificent black-and-white panoramic photograph features the Mont-Blanc massif, a famous mountain range in the French Alps. I took this helicopter shot from the Swiss heights. To the left of the image, the sharp ridges of Grandes Jorasses carve out the sky. Echoing their grandeur, Mont Blanc rises royally behind them. To its right, the famous Aiguille du Midi and the Aiguilles de Chamonix stand out.

On this winter afternoon, the storm is still raging at summits. Clouds cling to the ridges in a final battle before calm returns. I love this wintry atmosphere where the mountains find their way between two worlds. When the fury of the elements gradually gives way to the serenity of pure, sublime nature. It's at this precise moment that the mountain exults, powerful and majestic.

In creating this incredible panorama of Mont Blanc, I wanted to convey the infinite depth of these eminent mountains. The gentle contrasts highlight their legendary charisma. The snow freshly deposited on the rock faces shapes the features of these colossi with their thousand-year history. The sequence of ridges and the balance of forms give the picture a graphic quality of exceptional beauty. Here, Grandes Jorasses seems to echo Mont Blanc, masterpieces of a nature at summit that never ceases to amaze.
