Ice fortress

A masterly tribute to the Swiss Alps. This wide-ranging panoramic photograph brings together 22 mountains over 4,000 meters high. Our journey begins on the left in the Monte Rosa massif. We pass Liskamm, Castor and Pollux, Breithorn and the Klein Matterhorn. The hero of this grandiose panorama is the Weisshorn, towering over Bishorn. Climbing its northern ridge on the right, we return down the normal route on the left. The adventure continues at summit on the Zinalrothorn, which rises in front of the Matterhorn and leads us toObergabelhorn. Then, from the The Dent d'Hérensour path leads us to summit Dent Blanche and Grand Cornier. In the background, the Italian Alps loom large on the horizon.

The photograph illustrates just how changeable the weather can be in the Alps. See how the valley of Zermatt is shrouded in mist when the sky is clear at val d’Anniviers. I try to understand these meteorological phenomena in order to anticipate them better. So as to be there at the right moment to immortalize the splendor of the high summits. But chance is never far away. That's when you have to believe in your luck. You have to try and not give up. Until, one day, nature reveals the purity of its soul and its incredible beauty.

Because every mountain is unique. On the left of the photograph, the dense and imposing Monte Rosa massif rises up. A glacial fortress of enormous proportions. On the right, a multitude of glacier-clad rock pyramids. All different, they defy the sky with their sharp peaks. Two different landscapes, two faces of the high mountains for a timeless work of art.
