about the work
Panoramic photograph of the Imperial Crown of Zinal, the jewel in the crown of the Valais Alps, Switzerland. Seen from the heights of Zermatt, its south-facing slope is a sight to behold. Dressed in black and white, the world's most beautiful summits follow one another before our astonished eyes. Dent Blanche ,Obergabelhorn, Zinalrothorn and Weisshorn reach for the sky. All that's missing is the king of the Alps, the valiant Matterhorn. The Crown then appears in its entirety, set with its illustrious jewels over 4,000 metres high. Nature's masterpiece, so precious to my heart. For I've been lucky enough to climb each of these colossi, to soak up their power and serenity. Unforgettable memories of the high mountains that galvanize my art. In the background, bernese alps also adds incredible depth to the picture.I immortalized the mountains of Zinal at sunrise, when the first autumn snow had just covered the summits. The magic of the first snowflakes creates a striking contrast between the high mountains, now adorned in white, and the middle mountains still spared by the elements. Freshly snowed, the Imperial Crown exposes to the world its sparkling beauty. While a sea of clouds invades the alpine valleys, the high summits spring up like an archipelago floating in the middle of the ocean. I chose the panoramic format because it exalts the grandeur of the Imperial Crown, a sumptuous natural wall in the heart of the Alps. In this work, I like the light of the first autumn snows, which give the mountain a unique texture.
