Dames Anglaises
Snail Rider
About the work
The Dames Anglaises appear, dominating the Chamonix valley. Their black silhouettes tower against the swirling clouds. These snail-like peaks invite us into a world of mystery. To the right of the Dames Anglaises stands the Isolée. Culminating at an altitude of 3,577 metres, this needle fully deserves its name. Perched on its promontory, l'Isolée stands alone, with the Dames Anglaises bivouac at its feet. These summits are part of the famous Intégrale de Peuterey, the longest ridge in the Alps.
This high-altitude world is reborn in the storm. The dark rock of the mountains contrasts with the whiteness of the snow deposited by the ongoing storm. But this enchanting vision is fleeting. No sooner do we have time to savor the spectacle, than the clouds reclaim the Mont Blanc massif. Yet the magic of this moment endures forever in this work of art. A unique and sumptuous testimony to an indomitable nature.
