Guardian of the Glaciers

I took this photograph of the Dom on a spring morning, while a storm was still raging at summit. Under the onslaught of furious winds, the clouds jostled one another, concealing the mountain before offering it up to the sun. The elements come and go, and the Dom rises to the occasion. Revealing his omnipotence and intense beauty to the world. See how the glimmering light on its flanks reveals the softness of its features and the variety of its textures.

I dreamt of the Dom, king of the Mischabels, as the emblem of a kingdom of rock and ice inaccessible to man. A Himalayan mountain standing pure and grandiose in a wild and wonderful land.
