About the work
We are in the Mont-Blanc massif in France, facing summit des Drus. This mythical mountain of Chamonix culminates at 3754 metres. At summit, a statue of the Virgin Mary watches over the surrounding area.
Climbing this face of the mountain is reserved for the most experienced climbers. It used to be home to the Bonatti pillar, which collapsed in 2005 in a terrible landslide. This fall added even more verticality to the wall, preventing the snow from settling easily on the rock.
I had to wait 8 years to be able to take this striking photograph of the grandeur of Les Drus. All the elements had to come together to create an atmosphere that would pay perfect tribute to the peak's majesty. I waited day and night, until the moment when the magic happened. It was a winter's evening, after a storm. The summit was suddenly clear, freshly plastered in white. A small cloud masked the bottom of the mountain, detaching it from the landscape. Only this impressive monolith could be seen, piercing through the clouds to touch the sky.
This mountain inspires me enormously with its spear-like shape that pierces the sky and seems totally inaccessible. When you look up at the Drus from the valley, it looms like a granite obelisk, immovable and gigantic. The force emanating from it is exceptional. You can't help but feel how little you are in the face of the imposing, timeless character of this giant of rock.

We were bowled over!
My wife and I are amazed at the quality of print and the rendering of this magnificent photo. We had waited many years to put a picture on this blank wall because we had never "flashed" on a piece of art. Now we've found it, and it fits in perfectly at the entrance to our apartment. What's more, it depicts 3 summits that are particularly close to our hearts: the Weisshorn, Dent Blanche and the Matterhorn - quite a symbol...
