The bishop
celestial clouds
About the work
The Bishop emerges from the mists like a celestial ship sailing on an ocean of clouds. His austere silhouette, at once implacable and vulnerable, is revealed in fragments between the wisps of mist that envelop him. Light caresses its face, sometimes revealing the obscurity of its rock, sometimes the brilliance of its persistent snow. In this monochrome waltz, I sought to capture not just a mountain, but the soul of a giant. For the Bishop is not just a summit - he is a witness to time, a companion to the wind, a memory of the ice ages that precede and succeed us.
The mountain almost seems to breathe in this portrait, its flanks lifted by the embrace of the clouds. This photograph could only have been born of stubborn patience, a quest for the perfect moment when the elements come together in fleeting harmony. The picture takes me back to my many memories of climbing, to that unique sensation of brushing against the sky, to the profound humility we feel in the face of these natural cathedrals. In this moment frozen by the lens, I invite you to feel the breath of the wind, to hear the murmur of the glaciers, to contemplate eternity sculpted in rock and ice.
