Matterhorn
dancing with the clouds
About the work
The Hörnli ridge, the historic and mythical ascent route, draws a precise and implacable ridge line. Seen from up here, its beauty and difficulty are immediately apparent. The Matterhorn, at an altitude of 4,478 metres, inspires respect and humility.
That day, the mountain was playing with the elements. Clouds curled around the summit, tore apart and then returned, creating an aerial ballet of light and shadow. The fresh snow clinging to the face accentuated the contrasts, giving black and white all its expressive power.
To photograph the Matterhorn from Schwarzsee is to capture a privileged vantage point, where the mountain is both accessible and elusive. It's also a tribute to this Alpine icon, a symbol of adventure and self-transcendence. This portrait, frozen in the moment, captures the essence of this legendary summit : a blend of élan, grandeur and mystery.
