Matterhorn
Autumn light
About the work
The Matterhorn is, without a doubt, my favorite mountain. It's the one I come back to photograph again and again, without ever tiring of it. Each time, it offers a new face. Sometimes wild, sometimes elusive, sometimes simple and serene - as here.
I was lucky enough to climb the Matterhorn with my friend Vivian Bruchez. An unforgettable experience. Up there, I felt what only mountaineering can offer: the fragility of the moment, the strength of the place, and that kind of raw truth that only the mountains reveal.
In this photograph, I hope to convey that peace to you. The Matterhorn is not here in the dramatic light of a storm or the tension of the wind. It is calm, composed, almost tender. It silently watches over the valleys, bathed in the pale autumn light. A simple, unadorned work, in which the mountain speaks for itself.
