About the work
A tribute to the Matterhorn andObergabelhorn, two of the most beautiful summits in the Alps. We're in Switzerland's Valais region, facing the north face of these two iconic mountains. The Matterhorn rises to 4478 metres, whileObergabelhorn peaks at 4064 metres. They are separated by several kilometers, but thanks to my telephoto lens, here they seem to stand side by side. In the foreground, the snowy crest of Blanc de Moming completes the astonishing perspective of the work.
After studying the cartography of the region for a long time, I had to face the facts: the angle of view I wanted to adopt didn't exist from the ground. So I took this photograph by helicopter. From this very spot, the difference in level between the two mountains is striking, whereas it is imperceptible from the valley. I waited for that special moment when the light illuminates the mountains freshly snowed in by the onslaught of a storm.
On that day, I was lucky enough to see a cloud pass in front of the sun just as I was immortalizing summits. The Matterhorn was in shadow, while its neighbor shone brightly. At the time, my disappointment was perceptible, as I had dreamed of a work in which both mountains would be in the light. But this diffuse shadow on the Matterhorn ultimately sublimates the beauty of the scene. It lends incredible depth to the painting and an exceptional quality of light to the snow-covered walls. Like our greatest moments of happiness, the moment was unique and will probably never be repeated. The ephemeral beauty of royal nature. Every year, I return to this place that has thrilled me so much to try and recapture this light, but each time it's different.
I love the play of light and shadow that brings this portrait to life, the purity of the snow on the walls and the authentic, powerful lines of the mountains. Their shape is similar. Like two brothers towering over val d’Anniviers, the Matterhorn andObergabelhorn display all their beauty. This is one of my favorite photographs. One of the only works on my wall. I discover new details in it every day, and its spellbinding power is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me.

We were bowled over!
My wife and I are amazed at the quality of print and the rendering of this magnificent photo. We had waited many years to put a picture on this blank wall because we had never "flashed" on a piece of art. Now we've found it, and it fits in perfectly at the entrance to our apartment. What's more, it depicts 3 summits that are particularly close to our hearts: the Weisshorn, Dent Blanche and the Matterhorn - quite a symbol...

As former inhabitants of Zermatt, it's hard to forget the Matterhorn, even in a new environment of mountains and nature.we discovered this large photo of the Matterhorn in a gallery, so strong and intense, it was impossible to forget it........
