Matterhorn
renaissance
About the work
In front of me, the mountain reveals itself in fragments. To the right, the north face impresses with its fierce verticality. To the left, the east face. Between them, the Hörnli ridge winds its way to the summit, a mythical line climbed by generations of mountaineers in search of the absolute.
Fresh snow covers both faces, softening the roughness of the rock and emphasizing the lines of this natural architecture. The clouds, still present, envelop the massif as if to delay its reappearance. Then, suddenly, they part and the Matterhorn emerges, more brilliant than ever.
Let's contemplate this unique moment. The air is crystalline, the silence total. The mountain breathes, alive and sovereign. It imposes its grandeur, but also offers a new gentleness, that of a face washed by snow and light.
To photograph the Matterhorn in this way is to capture the essence of the high mountain: beauty born of storm, splendor reborn from chaos. In this black-and-white portrait, I seek to capture this intensity: the moment when the mountain reveals itself after the storm, between shadow and clarity, between mystery and revelation.
The Matterhorn, king of the Alps, appears here as a vision. A timeless presence that fascinates, upsets and uplifts.
