Matterhorn and Dent d'Hérens
On the edge of heaven
About the work
I created this work in 2020, in the aftermath of a storm. The glaciers were still silent. Fresh snow spread its mantle over the ridges, erasing for a time the scars of the past season. As day broke, a ray of light grazed the flanks of the Matterhorn, revealing its refined profile. It was answered by the Dent d'Hérens.
Through this magnificent panoramic photograph, I wish to share with you the very essence of the mountain: its purity, its strength, its mystery. The contrast between the two summits tells the story of the Alps. The Matterhorn, flamboyant and conquering, symbol of eternity. The Dent d'Hérens, wilder, more secretive. In the soft morning light, their lines come together to form a single breath.
I often contemplate this work as if I were reading a poem. Every detail, every shade of grey, every sliver of snow reveals a parallel world. For at the edge of the sky, where the winds whisper and time stands still, there remains the promise of an elsewhere. A world where all is grandeur, silence and absolute.
