Massif du Mont-Rose
The Dufourspitze and its guardians
About the work
That day, the sky was not stable. Clouds raced over the peaks, light was scarce, but every ray of light was a revelation. The summits appeared in fragments, alternately revealed and swallowed up, as if the mountain itself were reluctant to reveal its secrets. In this play of light and shadow, the grandeur of Monte Rosa was revealed even more intensely.
The Dufourspitze dominates the scene. Its icy pyramid splits the sky, surrounded by its neighbors - Nordend and Zumsteinspitze - which crown it. The whole is a grandiose fresco, a theater of rock and ice where the eye loses itself.
I remember the silence, disturbed only by the wind blowing between the ridges. The mountain vibrated, alive, in a soothing atmosphere. Before me, Switzerland's highest summit loomed like a fleeting vision. This was the moment I wanted to capture: a suspended moment, when nature reveals itself in its purest truth.
In this black-and-white portrait of the Mont-Rose massif, light rises above shadow. The clouds underline the majesty, the contrasts intensify the strength. It's the image of a sovereign mountain, invincible yet ephemeral in its appearance. A work where time stands still to contemplate absolute grandeur.
