Pizzo Cengalo

About the work
On this particular day, the atmosphere was breathtaking. The gusts of wind whirled the snow around the ridges, creating moving volutes in the light. Piz Cengalo appeared both fragile and indomitable, ready to slip from view. Behind it, other needles emerge, like a procession of guardians that further accentuate the impression of verticality.
At an altitude of 3,369 metres, this summit of the Val Bregaglia has always fascinated by its abruptness and ruggedness. A land of great alpine races, it embodies the essence of the high mountains: dazzling beauty and constant danger. To observe Piz Cengalo in turmoil is to contemplate a fragile balance between the brute force of the elements and the sovereign elegance of its lines.
In this black and white portrait, I wanted to pay homage to the high mountains. The snow that clings to the faces, the light that highlights each ridge, the wind that tirelessly sculpts the cornice: all combine to reveal a summit that lives, breathes and transforms. An ephemeral work, but eternal in the memory of the Alps.
