Pointe Baretti
Alpine journey
About the work
Pointe Baretti isn't easily visible, unlike other, more obvious Alpine icons like the Matterhorn. Yet, it's precisely this visual challenge that drove me to explore it relentlessly. Draped in its blanket of fresh snow, Pointe Baretti here seems to soar toward the sky. It asserts its refined silhouette, guided by a vertiginous ridge traced between shadow and light. To the left of the image, slightly set back, its neighbor, the Aiguille du Brouillard, can be seen, marking the continuity of this immense, wild ridge, almost imperceptible here, but very present in the imagination of mountaineers. In the background, the Aiguille Blanche de Peuterey imposes its unique and charismatic character.
I wanted to capture this dialogue between these two mountains: the Pointe Baretti, subtle and elegant, leading our gaze towards the more spectacular and imposing Aiguille Blanche de Peuterey. This portrait is also a tribute to the mountaineers who will venture onto this dizzying ridge, guided by the promise of an authentic and exhilarating adventure, where each step is a victory and each look, an inspiration towards the conquest of summits .
