Zinal
The Awakening of the Valaisan Giants
About the work
Our journey begins on the left with Blanc de Moming. At its foot stands the Besso, recognizable by its sharp silhouette. It is the emblem of Zinal and has watched over the valley for thousands of years. Our gaze then glides to the Dent d'Hérens, then the Pointe de Zinal, before reaching the majestic Dent Blanche , whose stature is matched only by its reputation among mountaineers. Our journey ends with the Grand Cornier, the final jewel in the alpine crown.
This work is the fruit of an obstinate quest. For months, I scoured maps and topographic surveys, looking for the vantage point that would reveal these summits in their most harmonious alignment. The location had to capture their collective essence while respecting the individuality of each of these mythical mountains. It was a work of patience and precision that finally materialized in this balanced composition.
Nature offered me exceptional conditions that day. A sea of clouds stretched beneath the summits, transforming these mineral colossi into a celestial archipelago. The peaks emerge from this vaporous ocean like mysterious islands. The light, delicate and precise, sculpts their flanks and reveals an infinity of details. For the work to be true to my vision, the clouds had to disappear beneath an ocean of clouds, further enhancing the splendour of these already extraordinary mountains.
