In the middle of winter, in the heart of the bernese alps, the Rotstock reveals all its beauty against the imposing Aletschhorn. The 3,698-meter-high summit reveals its spectacular face, while in the background the 4,194-meter-high Aletschhorn, the second summit in the bernese alps and reputed to be the coldest in the Alps. The Rotstock dominates the Oberaletsch glacier to the west and the Drietschgletscher to the southeast.

I chose to temporarily abandon my usual black and white to add some color to this photograph. See how the shades bring out the verticality of the Rostock. This summit, less well known than the neighboring mountains of the bernese alps, nevertheless resembles a Himalayan giant. Our eyes discover this natural architecture with astounding precision. The winter light reveals every stratum, every fracture of this magnificent rock.

In this creation, the grandeur of nature and the intensity of my emotions come together. The violence of the winds and the harshness of the rock touch me deeply and fuel my creativity. I love these mysterious atmospheres, when the mountain melts into the clouds. When the storm breaks over the Alps, I feel the need to be close to the mountain to witness this fabulous spectacle. That's how I was able to capture this remarkable scene. For my most beautiful works often emerge from such moments of chaos.
