Schalihorn
at the edge of the storm
About the work
That day, bad weather was approaching. Mists were beginning to cling to the mountain sides, heralding the arrival of a disturbance. But before the sky closed in, the Schalihorn offered a unique sight: a snow-covered ridge, stretched out like a line of light, carving itself out precisely against the threatening shadows. The mountain seemed ready to be engulfed by the storm.
I particularly like these in-between moments, when the mountain hesitates between light and darkness. The Schalihorn stands like a fragile guardian, suspended in time, in a precarious balance between serenity and power. The snow, devoid of all trace, contrasts with the harshness of the rock and the heaviness of the sky. Each element finds its place in this almost theatrical composition, where nature plays with its own grandeur.
To photograph the Schalihorn is to capture the very essence of the high mountains: the beauty born of impermanence. Through this portrait, I pay homage to this discreet yet majestic summit , witness to the incessant cycles of winds and seasons. Between light and shadow, he reminds us that every moment is precious, because the mountain never reveals itself in the same way twice.
