Sciora Dafora
harmony in the heart of Graubünden
About the work
The northwest ridge, known as the Directe Intégrale, traces a perfect line across the rocky flank. Our gaze then rises to Sciora Dafora. Then we gaze up at the Pioda di Sciora, culminating at 3,238 metres. From this vantage point, the summit Pioda di Sciora looks as sharp as a blade. Yet seen from the other side, it reveals a flatter plateau. Finally, Ago di Sciora completes the trio at 3,205 metres.
These three giants form a harmonious whole, each with its own identity and character. In this magnificent light, color reveals its nuances on the rock. Light and shadow sculpt the vertical faces.
I spent a long time observing this mountain range before finding the perfect angle. I wanted to reveal its true personality. After months of waiting, everything lined up for me to photograph these summits in their most beautiful light. Here, the needles reveal themselves without artifice. The natural hues of the rock, the snow clinging to the faces, the changing skies of the Alps: all combine to reveal the very essence of this exceptional massif.
