Torrone
sentinels of the Bregaglia Valley
About the work
To the left, the Torrone Orientale soars in striking verticality. To its right, the Ago del Torrone stands out with its slender silhouette. Beside it, the Pizzo Torrone Centrale imposes its slender mass. Access to the pass is difficult, and only experienced mountaineers will be able to climb it, as the slopes, with their 45-degree gradients, demand caution and mastery. At their feet, the Vadrec del Forno glacier unfurls its icy mantle.
On this particular day, the spring sun illuminated the mountain with a silvery glow. The past storm had covered the faces with sparkling snow, revealing every line with precision. The contrast between the dark rock and the new whiteness gave the scene an almost unreal intensity.
In front of this spectacle, I felt the implacable power of the Torrone. Their razor-sharp silhouettes, their surge towards the heights, seemed to express a will to defy the sky. At that moment, the mountain expressed its absolute grandeur. I took out my camera to capture this moment, this dialogue between strength and beauty. A fragment of eternity.
