about the work
Masterly alignment within the imperial crown of Zinal, in the Swiss Valais. Between the valley of Zermatt and val d’Anniviers, the Zinalrothorn and the Matterhorn, sovereigns of the Alps, meet. Absorbed by this incredible black and white photograph, our gaze wanders along the last few meters of the northern ridge of the Zinalrothorn, which brandishes its cross in the foreground towards the Matterhorn, the queen mountain. In this early autumn, the light is changing. The sun takes its winter quarters, plunging for several months the north face of the mountains in the shade. Only the eastern side of the summits will benefit from a comforting light. I captured this portrait of the mountain just after the passage of a storm. The rocks adorned with a fresh coat of snow are for some time inaccessible to man. Absolute splendor of an immaculate nature that turns towards the sky.
I made this vertical photograph of the mountains as a search of alignment. Perfect symmetry in the image of the beauty of the origins. The two mythical summits of the Imperial Crown stand one behind the other with infinite presence. We can only bow to such power and majesty. The first snows give the mountains an incomparable texture. I also like the contrasts between the Zinalrothorn and the Matterhorn. Black echoes white, shadow echoes light, darkness echoes flamboyance, like a call to life, intense and sublime, which makes our steps vibrate when we walk on these summits.
