Appearance of the Aiguille des Deux Aigles on the heights of Chamonix, in France. While the mountains of the Mont-Blanc massif display their feminine curves, the Aiguilles de Chamonix, with their impressive verticality, shoot sharply towards the sky. Inspiring, they challenge mountaineers from all over the world to come and face them. The quality of their flamboyantly colored granite is world renowned.

In winter, I watch for the magic moment when, after a strong storm, they are dressed in white. I have to be patient because the show is only played once or twice a year. But when the curtain of clouds opens on the Agulhas of Chamonix which, with their frosted point, seem to pierce the sky, my emotion is at its peak. All I have to do then is to immortalize through photography the extreme beauty of the high mountain, pure and disproportionate. On this day in 2018, I waited several hours before seeing the Aiguille des Deux Aigles, engulfed by the elements. Until the moment when it emerged from the mist to better soar towards the sky. A moment of grace, ephemeral but forever engraved in my work.

This vertical photograph of the Aiguille des Deux Aigles is different from my other pictures, in which black and white transcribe the subtle play of light and shadow. In this work, white reigns supreme. The slightly bluish monochrome emphasizes the bewitching and mysterious splendor of this blade of ice that reveals its beauty to better touch the sky. Brilliant and proud, the mountain reflects the light like a sword released from its scabbard shines with a thousand fires before hitting the bull's eye.
