Verstanclahorn - Torwache
Alpine Dialogue
About the work
I took this photograph of the Verstanclahorn and Torwache after a stormy night. Dawn broke as the mountains awoke, just covered in glistening snow. The still-skimming shadows reveal unsuspected features on their flanks. Two Engadine giants, towering over the Val Lavinuoz and the village of Lavin at over 3,000 metres above sea level, are revealed in their most beautiful light. The sublime outlines of these immense summits can be seen from the heights of the resorts of Klosters and Zernez.
I love the depth of this picture. The fabulous lines that play with shadows and light. A window onto the Alps, where everything is splendor. Where the mountains resonate. Like a mirror reflecting nature's grandeur, the Verstanclahorn echoes the Torwache. And in their celestial flight to the farthest reaches of Switzerland, their supreme grace turns our hearts upside down.
