Alphubel
power and fragility
About the work
That day, the light highlighted every detail of its face. The layers of rock, carved by the centuries, contrasted with the glacier's dazzling whiteness. The result was a striking work of art, a blend of strength and delicacy.Alphubel was revealed in its deepest truth: massive, austere and yet imbued with a mysterious beauty.
Part of the Mischabels massif,Alphubel is one of the giants that watch over the valleys of Zermatt and Saas-Fee. Less well known than its 4,000-meter-plus neighbors, it nevertheless embodies the essence of the high mountains: a place of trial for the mountaineer, but also a haven of contemplation for those who take the time to observe it.
To photographAlphubel is to pay homage to this permanent contrast: the softness of snow and the harshness of rock, the power of a summit and the fragility of its suspended glaciers. In this black-and-white portrait, I wanted to immortalize this face-off between power and vulnerability. A reminder that the mountain, in its apparent eternity, is nonetheless always in motion, always in transformation.
