Bellavista
melody of the Grisons Alps
About the work
I particularly like the shapes of the crevasses and hanging glaciers. They create contrasts that give life and depth to the photograph. These mysterious rifts tell the secret story of ice in motion. I love the composition of this photograph, which plays on perspective. I like the lines of force that guide the eye on a contemplative journey through the different planes of this Engadine landscape.
In this monumental portrait of the Bellavista ridge, I perceive all the poetry of Alpine heights. The apparent absence of life contrasts with the vitality of form and texture. Every ridge, every crevasse bears witness to the perpetual interaction between the mountain and the elements. And as global warming inexorably threatens these glacial landscapes, this photographic work becomes witness to a beauty as fragile as it is grandiose.
