Chapütschin - Verstanclahorn - Torwache
Guardians of Vadret Da Las Maisas
About the work
I painted their portrait at sunrise, as the shadows gradually give way to the sun. My gaze fell on the sumptuous crown of snow and rock that illuminates the Alps beyond the valleys. These mythical summits that we love to contemplate from the heights of Klosters resort. Overlooking the Vadret a las Maisas glacier, the mountains reach for the sky like a fortress protecting its territory. All three united in the same spirit, but all three unique.
On the left, the broad-topped Chapütschin seems to brandish a shield of ice. The Verstanclahorn, meanwhile, points its sharp ridges. A lover of verticality, merciless and flamboyant, its silhouette inspires me and invites me to travel. Last but not least, the Torwache forms an impregnable bastion on the horizon. Chapütschin, Verstanclahorn and Torwache, with their masterful blend of textures and lines, loom up into the Alpine sky like the jaws of a giant that nothing can break. Molars, canines and incisors of gneiss, whose whiteness grabs us and never lets go.
