Magnificent black-and-white panorama of the Engadine mountains. The jewel of the Graubünden canton, the Bernina massif rises like an unbroken fortress above St. Moritz in the Swiss Alps. In the foreground, Piz Picuogl, Piz Julier, Piz Tschierva and Piz Morteratsch emerge from a thick sea of clouds. Nature's masterpiece, the Bernina range, dominates the horizon. Its continuous ridge invites us to explore summits. A marvellous journey between earth and sky, and an encounter with the high mountains. Our adventure begins on Piz Cambrena, which rises to 3606 metres on the left of the picture. We then cross Piz Palü and Bellavista to reach summit du Piz Bernina, 4048 metres above sea level. This is the highest point of the massif and the crowning glory of the work. We then descend to Piz Scerscen and the Porta da Roseg pass to climb Piz Roseg. At an altitude of 3,935 metres, it appears to be the last defensive tower of this impressive rampart of rock and ice.

I waited a long time before finally being able to take this photograph. The Engadine is several hours from where I live, and the winds are often uncertain. To immortalize the view of my dreams, I had to be there after an autumn storm. So that the freshly snow-covered mountains could be glorified by a warm light. Using silvery contrasts, I wanted to bring softness to the omnipotence of the high summits. A dazzling spectacle that can only be appreciated from a distance. This grandiose panorama was created 30 km from the massif. I was able to capture the immensity of the Bernina in a single shot. One shot follows another, adding depth to the work. Nature takes us beyond the mist to the top of the world.
