Panorama of the Engadine giants

Magnificent panorama of the Engadine mountains in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. In the foreground, Piz Bernina , at 4048 m, is the highest mountain in the eastern Alps. In the center of the picture, the Biancograt leads to its summit, carried by the music of the sky. A celestial route that every mountaineer would like to climb one day, it is without doubt the most beautiful ridge in the Alps. Absolutely aesthetic, its white silhouette punctuates the landscape like a comma of ice on the border between two worlds. In the background, Piz Roseg is also one of the most majestic mountains in the Bernina massif.

I took this photograph in spring. The storm had just covered summits with fresh, pure snow. Breathing again beyond the clouds, the mountain regains its vigor as the sun illuminates the whiteness of its slopes. The Bernina massif is a long hour's drive from my home. It's easier to get close to your subject and immortalize its beauty. The lightning speed of the mountain, which reveals its splendour to us and then takes it back Next, requires listening and perseverance. You have to be there when the miracle happens. And when summits is far away, the challenge is enormous. Planning is essential, and luck is indispensable. Because while we may think we understand and interpret the weather, the reality is quite different. You have to face it again and again, until nature gives you the show you've been waiting for.

With this work, I wanted to show the similarity between the two summits. A portrait of two Alpine giants that seem so close, yet are miles apart. Our steps seem to be guided by the same ridge that traces the horizon, leaping from one mountain to the next to reach the sky. The mountain's grandeur is magnificently enhanced by a delicate, deep range of soft, silvery contrasts. Unique aesthetics beyond compare. Unexpected beauty that touches our hearts.
