Dent Blanche - Matterhorn - Obergabelhorn
alpine trinity
About the work
The atmosphere that day was crystalline. The low-angled light shaped the volumes, revealing the ruggedness of the relief and the verticality of the faces. It was a moment I'd long hoped for, for bringing these three giants together in such an atmosphere is almost a miracle. The Matterhorn inevitably catches the eye. I had the pleasure of climbing this mountain with my friend Vivian Bruchez. A climb marked by effort, but above all by emotion. My heart was beating faster than the wind. I still feel the emotion of that climb every time I photograph the Matterhorn.
The Dent Blanche is powerful and massive here. It stands watch, impassive. In contrast, theObergabelhorn displays an almost aristocratic finesse, with its tapering crests and skyward-tending lines. Between light and shadow, these summits each tell their own story. But together they reveal the full grandeur of the Valais.
Through this work, I pay homage to beauty, adventure and mountaineering at its purest: the encounter between man and mountain, between dream and realization. Because sometimes, the summit is not the end - it's the beginning of an eternal bond with the mountain.
