Light-Obscure

I took this magnificent panoramic photograph of Dent Blanche from the Val d'Hérens. The mountain rises to an altitude of 4358 metres in the heart of the Valais Alps in Switzerland. On the right, the ridge of its normal route cuts through the horizon. The verticality of its first gendarme is a first obstacle for climbers ascending summit. The ridge continues to the left, taking us to the Col de la Dent Blanche, where the bivouac of the same name is located. Our journey then takes us to the Grand Cornier, whose ridge guides us, between light and shadow, to 3961 metres above sea level. Between the two mountains stands the imposing Weisshorn. The work highlights the grandeur of the traverse of its northern ridge, which leads via the Grand Gendarme to its summit. The ridges of Schaligrat and the normal route stand out in the sunlight. Giving the panorama incredible depth, bernese alps and its mythical mountains sculpt the horizon. On the right, you can see the Dom, the Täschhorn, theObergabelhorn and theAlphubel, that astonishing flat-topped hill that rises to 4206 metres in the Mischabels massif.

The absolute beauty of a sky that breaks after a storm to make way for the sun's rays. Clouds cling to the summit of Dent Blanche, giving the impression that the mountain is on fire. The Alps reveal themselves against the light. The rock faces are so covered in snow that they reflect the light. The magic of Light-obscure, highlighting the whitened mountains and their most sumptuous details. A frozen moment, but one in which the world evolves. Contemplating the painting, we feel the wind blow, the clouds disperse and the snow cover transform. The very essence of life in a glance.

Immortalizing the splendor of this panorama of the Valais Alps was close to my heart. I've been lucky enough to climb each of these mountains, which I love with a passion. Their pyramidal shape and the distance that separates them give me the opportunity to create a portrait worthy of them. Thanks to the angles of view I choose, I can line up summits, give life to a new landscape and reveal a hitherto unknown face of the high mountains.
