About the work
La Dent du Géant (4013m) is one of the most emblematic 4000m peaks in the Mont Blanc massif. On the French-Italian border in Val d'Aoste, the slender needle overlooks the glacier that bears its name.
I photographed summit in 2019. Exceptional conditions enabled me to crystallize a unique moment. After a violent snowstorm, Dent du Géant rips through the skies and emerges from an ocean-like mist. The clouds move forward, like immense waves crashing down on summit. The play of light in the clouds gives the illusion of heavy spray. The mountain world is transformed into a sea world. The rock is like a lighthouse guiding climbers: it points the way to summit.
Dent du Géant remains a classic of mountaineering. It's easy to get to, the lifts are close by and summit is not very difficult. However, this photograph reminds me of the power of nature. The peak, separated from the ground, lost in the immensity of the sea of clouds, seems celestial, distant, untouchable. It is enthroned in the clouds, up there on the border of the mystical. It commands respect, humble and silent admiration.
This mountain inspires me a lot. It's also surprising. Its evocative name gives way to dreams and mythological epics: perhaps ancient giants once ruled the massif, and this summit is their testimony? the imagination must remain free, totally free... like the little virgin we see at summit.
This photograph will delight lovers of verticality. I've tried to show this needle in its most slender, tapered form. It's a fragile balance I've captured, between the sharp, precise frozen face and the turbulent, impetuous sea.
It's a rare work. I haven't had the opportunity to experience such conditions since it was taken. A simple but powerful shot.

As former inhabitants of Zermatt, it's hard to forget the Matterhorn, even in a new environment of mountains and nature.we discovered this large photo of the Matterhorn in a gallery, so strong and intense, it was impossible to forget it........ It became obvious that it should adorn our new apartment as a centerpiece.What's more, we had a very sympathetic contact with the artist, who came himself to deliver his work.It's very appreciable and adds a dimension to the object, to know its creator, his passion, the conditions under which it was taken.The texture of the photo resembles a painting, the lights play on it, Next the hours. We were bowled over!
My wife and I are amazed at the quality of print and the rendering of this magnificent photo. We had waited many years to put a picture on this blank wall because we had never "flashed" on a piece of art. Now we've found it, and it fits in perfectly at the entrance to our apartment. What's more, it depicts 3 summits that are particularly close to our hearts: the Weisshorn, Dent Blanche and the Matterhorn - quite a symbol...
