Lenzspitze
icy elegance
About the work
That day, the light slipped through the clouds, cutting the relief into shimmering, shadowy strata. The rays grazed the face, revealing the texture of the ice, the almost unreal verticality of this mythical face. Clouds danced at its base, as if to accentuate the impression that the summit was floating above the world.
The north face of the Lenzspitze is renowned for its beauty, but also for the harshness of its conditions. Climbing the north face means facing an uncompromising wall of snow and ice over 500 metres high. But here, in this black and white, she reveals herself in a different way. It's no longer just a sporting challenge: it's a natural work of art, a living tableau where each line tells a thousand-year-old story.
By capturing this moment, I wanted to show the duality of this mountain: the fragile purity of its light and the unalterable power of its flanks. The Lenzspitze reveals itself only to those who know how to wait, to observe, and to recognize the beauty in fleeting moments when weather, light and mountain come together in perfect harmony.
To look at this portrait is to plunge into a universe of ice and verticality, where nature expresses itself with the noblest of voices: that of silence and light.
