Mont Blanc massif
winds and clouds
About the work
At the time I immortalized this painting, a storm had just swept across the summits. The clouds were still very thick. Suddenly, carried by the persistent high winds, the mist began to disperse. And the Mont Blanc massif presented me with a spectacle of rare beauty. What wonderful luck I'd had! An enchanting universe stretched out before me, captivating and magical. The highest peaks of the Alps, freshly covered in snow, came to life under the caresses of the sun. They were still floating above an immense sea of clouds, like islands lost in an infinite ocean.
What I particularly appreciate in this composition is the harmonious succession of summits leading up to Mont Blanc, at an altitude of 4810 meters. Panoramic photography takes us out of time. I chose this angle to emphasize the grandeur of the massif. A splendor difficult to express in words, but one that this photograph fully captures. With intensity and emotion.
