Face à Face

A breathtaking face-to-face encounter with the Matterhorn, summit the icon of the Zermatt valley in the Valais Alps. Arguably the most beautiful mountain in the world. This magnificent black-and-white vertical photograph focuses on the north face of the Matterhorn. It rises vertiginously to the gates of heaven. A suspended glacier adorns the base of this sparkling pyramid. On the left, you can see the east face and the Hörnli ridge. On the right, the Zmutt ridge reveals its icy verticality.

When I started photography, it always snowed in the high mountains when it rained on the plains. Those days are gone. While storms are now rare in summer, the Matterhorn awakens here draped entirely in white. Immortalizing the mountain in this way is the very essence of my artistic approach. Through this aerial view and the unique angle it offers of the Matterhorn, I wanted to reveal the soul of this thousand-year-old colossus. A grandiose monolith, the mountain rises mighty and inspiring beyond the world. Invincible and sacred, its silhouette resonates within us. The clouds still present at summit highlight its legendary aura and the strength of its character.

In this fascinating portrait, the Matterhorn stands alone on the border between Switzerland and Italy. It attracts violent winds and exceptional meteorological phenomena. The Matterhorn becomes the muse of a nature that shapes it as it pleases. The Matterhorn becomes a masterpiece for those who know how to observe. That's why I'm so passionate about this fabulous mountain. I will dedicate many more years of my life to glorifying the majestic Matterhorn in my photographs. Whatever happens, I'll stand by it, waiting for it to reveal itself, so that I can finally discern its true essence. And as a mountaineer, I'm still pursuing the dream of surveying all its ridges, treading all its rocks, discovering all its flanks, to finally grasp its true identity.
