Mount Dolent
awakening after the storm
About the work
That day, the storm had barely abated. The icy winds had lashed the ridges, covering them in a plaster coat, while the mist, still hesitant, was slowly dissipating. In this atmosphere of rebirth, Mount Dolent offered itself to me in all its splendor. The emerging light caressed its slopes, revealing in turn its shaded faces and its sparkling walls. Between light and shadow, the mountain seemed to breathe again.
Each snowfall reshapes the relief, and it's in this metamorphosis that the magic of the high mountains lies. Mont Dolent appears in a new light: ridges softened, lines purified, glaciers revived. Time stands still, and we find ourselves contemplating this painting as a fragile, eternal work of art.
In black and white, Dolent takes on an absolute dimension. Its contrasts exacerbate the opposition between mineral power and the ephemeral grace of snow. This photograph reveals its essence: an indomitable mountain that, for the space of a moment, reveals itself with humility.
For me, Mont Dolent is an encounter. A rare moment when nature, soothed after the fury of the elements, reveals its soul. In this ethereal vision, it becomes the symbol of the fragile harmony between the immensity of the peaks and the poetry of silence.
