Mount Dolent
Cotton Clouds
About the work
From the heights of Chamonix, the view is breathtaking. The mountain reveals itself in fragments, between light and shadow. Fog curls around its edges, masking its base, revealing its summit. They play with the rock, dance to the rhythm of the wind, giving the whole a mystical allure. Mount Dolent seems to float above the world, suspended in a bosky bower of clouds.
The snow highlights its lines, softening the ruggedness of the face and giving the mountain a striking purity. Its triangular profile draws the eye, imposing silence and admiration. Here, nature expresses itself: grandeur, elegance and fragility.
I contemplate this unique moment when the summit reveals itself in this way. Every second transforms the picture: a cloud passes, a light bursts forth, a ridge disappears and is reborn. The mountain lives, breathes, metamorphoses. To photograph Mont Dolent is to capture the ephemeral, to capture the fleeting beauty of an instant.
In this black-and-white portrait, I seek to capture the essence of Mont Dolent: a frontier summit , a symbol of balance and unity, the eternal muse of the Alps. Between shadow and light, it rises to the sky, reminding us of the timeless power of the high mountains.
