In the heart of the Valais Alps, theObergabelhorn stands like a jewel sculpted by ice and wind. At an altitude of 4,064 metres, this mythical summit dominates the Zermatt valley and the val d’Anniviers. I usually choose to photograph it from its steep, vertiginous north face. But on this particular day, it was another side that caught my eye.

From Zermatt, under a light softened by winter, theObergabelhorn reveals the purity of its lines. Its elegant ridge soars into the sky, while at the foot of the mountain stretches its majestic glacier, like a crystalline mantle resting on its flanks. Shades of blue, rare in my work, bring a new depth here: they sublimate the snow and ice, reinforcing the perception of this frozen yet very much alive world.

TheObergabelhorn belongs to those mountains that fascinate by their perfect balance. Neither too massive nor too fragile, it embodies true harmony. That day, I wanted to capture this lesser-known face, to offer a different view of a mountain I know intimately. The storm had passed, leaving a clear, almost limpid atmosphere. The mountain showed itself in its rawest truth: snow, ice and rock united in a picture of purity. To photograph this moment is to pay homage to the grace of a timeless summit that never tires of astonishing us.
