Here, the north face of theObergabelhorn dominates the world with unrivalled majesty. This legendary slope of the Swiss Alps rises between the val d’Anniviers and the Zermatt valley, its ridges like the ramparts of an impassable Alpine fortress. The north face of theObergabelhorn was made famous by Jérémie Heitz's exceptional film "La Liste". Since my first encounter with this summit in 2013, the purity of its silhouette has never ceased to inspire me.

From the summit theObergabelhorn, our gaze follows the magnificent ridge running towards the clouds. I was lucky enough to cross this ridge alongside my friend Vivian Bruchez. Further on, in a cloudy embrace, we can make out the Wellenkuppe. Although the North Face itself is famous, the glaciers of theObergabelhorn are rarely contemplated. With this work, I pay homage not only to the mythical grandeur of the summit, but also to the wild, secret beauty of its forgotten glaciers.

This unreal and magical moment rewarded my days of patient waiting in the mountains. After a violent storm, I saw theObergabelhorn as I have rarely seen it. At that moment, I felt the full force of the moment, the rare intensity of an intimate connection with nature. I knew then that this photograph would be one of my defining works.
