Panorama of the Fribourg Alps
About the work
In this black-and-white work, one mountain stands out from the rest: the Moléson, in the background, illuminates the landscape with its supreme brilliance. At its feet, the sea of clouds takes over the plain, and Moléson is transformed. It appears like a mystical being with Himalayan allure.
I took this panoramic photograph in the middle of winter, when the Fribourg Alps had just been hit by a furious storm. The fir trees and meadows are bleached. The face of the Moléson is plastered with fresh snow. Beneath the freshly fallen white gold, the Alps rest, filled with serenity. So I capture for you a scene worthy of the giants of the Alps. This photograph differs from my usual art. Fir trees are rarely seen in my paintings. But on this particular day, I wanted to pay tribute to a region that is so dear to me. Look at the chalets on the plains in the foreground. See the footsteps of the skiers who venture onto these lands. Contemplate this celestial realm that nourishes the imagination and cherishes my art.
