From the heights of Villars-sur-Ollon, the Petit Muveran reveals its majestic silhouette in all its winter splendour. At an altitude of 2810 metres, this giant stands vertically on the border between the Valais and Vaud cantons. Flattened by the snow, its striking beauty makes it one of the most photogenic summits in the Pre-Alps.

Its face, sculpted by millennia, offers a spectacle of rare intensity. Geological strata draw perfect lines on the rock, testifying to the ancient history of the Alps. In the crystalline light that caresses its ridges, Petit Muveran reveals its unique character. Less famous than its neighbors, it possesses a discreet nobility.

The mid-range mountains are a treasure trove. Versatile, it can be explored in a multitude of ways, from relatively accessible hiking trails to more technical mountaineering routes. Training at lower altitudes is an excellent way to deepen your knowledge of the alpine environment, improve your technique and develop your physical capacities, before venturing on to the highest summits. And maybe, one day, reach the roof of the world!

I captured that moment when the fresh snow sublimated the Petit Muveran. I waited a long time before succeeding in immortalizing it like this. In this timeless black and white, the mountain displays all its quiet strength. Being used to photographing high mountains, it's sometimes difficult for me to capture the contrasts that characterize the landscape at lower altitudes. I'm delighted to have succeeded in conveying this sense of grandeur through this work.
