Weisshorn
jewel of the Valais Alps
About the work
On this particular day, the storm had only just broken. The face of the Weisshorn, still freshly plastered with snow, sparkled in the sunlight. A cloud, gliding along its ridge, rose into the sky as if to salute the mountain's victory over the elements. In this light, the Weisshorn was revealed in all its dimension, transforming the scene into a veritable work of art.
In 2021, I had the privilege of climbing the North Ridge of the Weisshorn. An adventure that will leave a lasting impression. The ascent, demanding and wild, took me through unexpected passages, where rock alternated with snow. Each step took me further away from the ordinary world, anchoring me a little more firmly in this high-altitude universe, where effort mingles with contemplation.
Photographing the Weisshorn means trying to capture the balance between strength and fragility. It's about freezing the moment when nature, indomitable and majestic, lets itself be approached. When I look at this black-and-white work, I feel the pride and emotion of someone who has been able to step onto a legendary summit . A tribute to the pure beauty of the high mountains, seemingly eternal, but so vulnerable today.
