Aiguille de Blaitière, Aiguille des Ciseaux, Aiguille du Fou
above Chamonix
About the work
On this particular day, the snow clung to every asperity, hugging the ridges and settling on the steep slopes. The light, sharp and soft at the same time, reveals the smallest details: the veins of the rock, the deep shadows that sculpt the volumes.
The Aiguille de Blaitière first catches the eye, before the eye is drawn to the Aiguille des Ciseaux, then the Aiguille du Fou. Together, they form a chain of shapes that embodies the essence of the Alps: powerful, abrupt and untouched.
To photograph such a moment is to capture a fragile balance. Impetuous winds have shaped this ephemeral ornament, and in a few hours it could disappear. But right now, it's all there: the power and majesty of the mountain, the intensity of the contrasts, the timeless grandeur of these needles reaching for the sky.
