about the work
Beyond the Weisshorn, splendor of the imperial crown of Zinal, between the valley of Zermatt and the val d’Anniviers. From the top of its 4506 meters, the summit dominates the Valais Alps, in Switzerland. On the right, its northern ridge lifts us up to the sky via the Grand Gendarme, while on the left, the normal route brings us back to earth. I did this magnificent traverse last summer, probably one of the longest and toughest ridge climbs I've ever done. A sublime journey between heaven and earth for which I went to the end of myself. At more than 4500 meters of altitude, my body was drained as much as my soul was overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. Then, as I came back down, each step that brought me back to earth helped me regain my energy. Breath of life that allowed me to carry out this quest towards the essential.I took this striking photograph of the Weisshorn mountain just after a storm that covered its walls with a thick layer of snow. Pure and sublime, it seems to dominate the surrounding mountains. In the background, bringing depth to the picture, the massif of Mount Rose rises from a sea of clouds. On the right, the main ridge of the Imperial Crown stands out, leading to summit of the Zinalrothorn. On the horizon, the Matterhorn and the The Dent d'Hérens and the Italian Alps can be seen. According to Edward Whymper, who made the first ascent of the Matterhorn, the Weisshorn is even more majestic. And I don't think he's wrong. Its exceptional scale is its beauty as it makes it inaccessible. An impressive and sumptuous mountain that relentlessly dominates the summits of the imperial crown.
