Matterhorn
smoking mountain
About the work
I captured this square portrait of the Matterhorn at first light. Just the day before, the mountain had been battered by a storm. In the early hours of the morning, the giant unveils its immaculate faces to the world, bathed in sunlight and revealing a renewed beauty. Observe the sumptuous textures of its eastern face. The rocks of the north face, plunged into shadow, finally breathe, freed from the assaults of the wind. The south ridge rises in perfect whiteness, creating a striking contrast against the limpid sky. A new facet of the Matterhorn is revealed. It is and will remain the king of the Zermatt valley and the Swiss Alps.
An eternal yet fleeting moment. Holding my breath, I contemplate this unique spectacle and record it for you. Note the lenticular cloud slowly taking shape at the summit the Matterhorn. This rare natural phenomenon, which I'm particularly fond of, feeds my artistic inspiration. Charged with emotion and intensity, it reveals unexpected shapes: a dragon blowing flames of mist, a shark floating in the sky. Wonderful fruits of our imagination, these shapes are invitations to dream. This moment when the elements magnify the mountain gives this photograph all its singularity and my art all its passion.
